Financial planners build roadmaps for your financial future. Financial planners develop strategic plans for your working years. Financial planners develop college plans so your children attend the right schools. Financial planners develop retirement plans that help you accumulate the right amount of assets and maintain your desired standard of living for the rest of your life. Financial planners develop estate plans that maximize the amounts of assets you transfer to heirs or nonprofits and minimize your tax liabilities. And, financial planners develop charitable tax plans that benefit the charities of your choice and reduce your tax liabilities.
Most financial planners will also help you implement the investment plan they develop for you. When this happens, they are acting in the capacity of financial advisors or investment representatives.
Some planners hold the Certified Financial Planner® or CPA/PFS designations and others do not. Planners, who do not hold these designations, should be able to prove they have substantial amounts of applicable planning experience. |
